They draw cartoon…They love cartoon…
They are Cartoondal!
They conducted their first exhibition “Bangla Cartoon” in 2015. With help from gallery Maya Art Space they showcased cartoons of pioneers from late 19th century till the contemporary times. Documentaries were shown during the show and interactive sessions were held.
After spreading their artistry in the Urban Space, Cartoondal decided to reach out to the suburbs and thus successfully conducted workshops in Jhargram, Chandan Nagar and Shantip
Along with making cartoons they have also published “Amal Album” , a substantial book on the legendary cartoonist Amal Chakraborty that showcased his works spanning fifty years.
Cartoondal had initially started off with 7 eminent cartoonists of Bengal. But now that Swapan Debnath, Tapas Mondal, Amitava Chakraborty, Mrinmoyee Deb, Chiranjit Samantha, Abhisek Choudhury, Adrija Ghosh and Ujjayini Mitra have joined in, they have grown up to be a group of 15 in 2017.
They believe not only in preservation but also in extension and sharing of their works of research and archives with anyone who is interested.
From cities to state, from states to nation and from nations to the entire world, all that Cartoondal aspires, is to work hand in hand with cartoonists from across the globe, and leave their mark for the days to come.
