Famed Director Dr. Kamaleswar Mukherjee is all set to release his blockbuster movie Amazon Obhijaan, centred around one of the most unsightly and dangerous forests known to mankind. ES Live! brings to you an exclusive session with Dr. Kamaleswar Mukherjee who will share his experience of shooting the movie and behind the scenes stories of Amazon Obhijaan. Speaker Profile :

Kamaleswar Mukherjee is a physician by training, and an alumnus of the Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, when it was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. He moved on initially to the profession of advertisement making and then film making. After working as an advertisement film maker, Mukherjee wrote (dialogue/screenplay/songs) for Amit Sengupta’s film Natobor Notout in 2010. His directorial debut, the well acclaimed film Uro Chithi was released in 2011. This film interwoven 12 text messages with 12 different characters, combining shades of life spanning across 12 months. His next venture was Meghe Dhaka Tara, inspired by the life and works of Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak and attempts to portray that period of the life of Ghatak when he was admitted into a mental asylum for treatment. Meghe Dhaka Tara was the most critically acclaimed film in Bengali film circuit that won the IFFI Centenary award. His next film is Chander Pahar, based on a novel of Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay released in December 2013.Chander Pahar is the second costliest film made in Bengali language and is still the biggest blockbuster in the history of Bengali cinema. The film is shot in Africa and stars Dev, the biggest male star in Bengal. He also made a film Khawto starring Prasenjit Chatterjee, another big star from West Bengal. Kamaleswar’s ongoing film project is the highest budget film in Bengali film history called Amazon Abhijan which was shot in Brazil and is in the post production stage. He also recently shot a film called Mukhomukhi. He is an active play writer and director and founder member of Kolkata‐based theatre group “Shailushik.
